A new chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution is currently being organized in Poplar Bluff.
According to a press release by Margaret Shackleford, head of the local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter, the SAR is the leading heritage organization for men and provides great service to the community.
“The Sons of the American Revolution honors our Revolutionary War patriot ancestors by promoting patriotism, serving our communities and educating and inspiring future generations about the founding principles of our country,” Shackleford wrote.
The SAR sponsors patriotic and historic contests for school students, honors outstanding JROTC students, recognizes community first responders, and honors Eagle Scouts. The SAR also provides services and support for veterans and upholds the principles of the United States Constitution, the press release added.
