Rev. Jean Sudduth Dicken, 90, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Lincoln Community Care Center in Lincoln, Missouri.
Rev. Dicken was born Aug. 16, 1934, to Leonard and Quillie Sudduth in Deering, Missouri.
On April 9, 1955, Jean married Bob Dicken at the First Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death May 30, 2011.
Jean was a member of the Poplar Bluff First United Methodist Church for 72 years. She was a member of Women’s Circle, Sunday School, United Methodist Women, choir and bell choir. Jean was a graduate of Malden High School, Three Rivers Community College, Southeast Missouri State and St. Paul’s School of Theology. Also, Jean was a homemaker, a receptionist for Porter DeWitt, a fashion consultant for Libson Shops, a piano teacher, and a community volunteer. She worked for the Poplar Bluff School System for 14 years. In 1987, Rev. Dicken became a Methodist lay speaker and pastored Agee, Neelyville, Naylor and Harviell congregations. She was ordained as a Methodist minister in 2000. Upon retiring as a Methodist pastor, Jean served as an interim pastor for the Presbyterian Church in Poplar Bluff for several years.
Survivors include children, Jeana (John) Cox, Roy (Lisa) Dicken, and Rich (Melanie) Dicken; grandchildren, Tara Dicken, Jason Stacy, Bobby Dicken, Ryan Dicken, Mitchell Cox, Hunter Dicken, Zachary Dicken, Cole Dicken, Kenzie Dicken, and Maddie Dicken; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Janice (Charles) Krause; sister-in-law, Carol Sudduth; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Quillie; husband, Bob; son, Russell Dicken; brother, Charles Sudduth; great-grandson, Gunnar Dicken; and daughter-in-law, Roberta Dicken.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Funeral services will immediately follow, beginning at 11:30 p.m. Burial will take place at the Dicken Cemetery in Harviell, Missouri.
