Dan Opalewski, an esteemed educator and retired vice president of Student Services at Columbia State Community College, passed away on December 24, 2024. He is survived by his wife, daughters, and extended family.

Dan Opalewski, Columbia, Tennessee died Dec. 24, 2024, surrounded by his wife and daughters. Dan was born June 10, 1952, in Shook, Missouri to Joseph and Joyce (Peterman) Opalewski.

Dan graduated from Greenville High School. He attended Three Rivers Community College, Southeast Missouri State University and received the doctorate of education from the University of Arkansas at Jonesboro. During his work career he taught school taught for Three Rives Community College, was Dean of Admissions at Three Rivers Community College and retired Columbia State Community College in Columbia, Tennessee as vice president of Student Services and Enrollment Management.

He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Betsy (Caudle) Opalewski; his daughters, Carrie Opalewski, Columbia, Kellie Opalewski, San Diego, California; two sisters, Dora Cole, Dexter, Missouri, Elizabeth Rogers, Cary, North Carolina; a grandson, Lucas Ingram, Columbia; a granddaughter, Emmie Nelson, San Diego; two nieces, Annie Cole-School, Battlefield, Missouri, Allyson Opalewski, San Diego; and three nephews, Thomas Rogers, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Ted Rogers and Drew Rogers, Cary, and great nephew Joseph Mullins, San Diego.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
