Charles Orrin Joplin, age 88 years and 5 months, of Ste. Genevieve, died December 14, 2024, peacefully in his home with his family surrounding him. Charlie was born April 25, 1936 in Greenville, Mo. the son of Phillip and Edna Irene (Buckingham) Joplin. Charlie was a United States Marine and served in the Korean War. He worked as a supply chain planner for McDonnell Douglas and retired after 35 years. He and his wife moved to Ellsinore, Missouri after his retirement, to live on their dream farm. Surviving are his four daughters Vickie Joplin (Brian), Debra Klahs (Bret), Anita Dennert (Christian), and Patricia Joplin; 10 grandchildren Phillip and (Sarah) Klahs of Maastricht, Netherlands, Kyle and (Rachel) Klahs of Watertown, New York, Sawyer and (Dempsey) Klahs of Arnold, Missouri, Lilly Klahs of Orlando, Florida, Abby Klahs of Hammond, Louisiana, Luke Klahs of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Keagon Klahs of Bloomsdale, Missouri, Alec Seidle of Colorado, Alaina Seidle of Florida, and Aaron Seidle of Florida; two step grandchildren Sean Dennert of Desoto, Missouri, and Caleb and (Natalie) Dennert of Desoto, Missouri; five great grandchildren Anton, Jonas, and Theodore Klahs, Penelope and Charles Klahs; one sister Shirley Harkins of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Gearelene (Turner) Joplin in 2005 and four brothers: Howard, Wayne, James, and Robert Joplin; five sisters, Betty Joplin, Lilly Randolph, Esther Sartin, Mary Ellen Karshall, and Irene Gravatt. Charlie loved his family. They were everything to him. He loved country music. He started singing gospel music with his mother on the radio when he around 8 years old and played in country bands as he got older. This inspired his children and grandchildren to sing and play the guitar. He loved to fish, play cards, and wrestle with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed, but we are at peace knowing he is in heaven. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 12 p.m. in the Joplin/New Hope Cemetery in Ellsinore, Mo.
