SCS software company, the developers behind the popular game American Truck Simulator, are bringing Poplar Bluff into the digital world with the recently announced Missouri downloadable content package.

According to the online game marketplace Steam, the game has sold more than 2 million copies since its original release in 2016.

The gameplay consists of vehicle simulation on 1:20 scaled maps of real-world locations with a business management aspect. The developers have slowly added states to the game’s map as DLCs to flesh out the available destinations. The current map allows players to drive in a simulated environment continuously from California to Arkansas.

Missouri is the latest state to be added to the maps in progress along with a rendered model of Poplar Bluff.

“You can look forward to some beautiful buildings inspired by real ones such as the Poplar Bluff bank, courthouse, sheriff department, theatre, and also a couple of stunning historic churches,” developers stated.

Residents of the city will recognize realistic depictions of landmarks like the Twin Towers, Rodgers Theatre, and the Butler County Courthouse along with models of well-traveled routes like Pine Street and Westwood Boulevard. Players will have the opportunity to pick up freight from a number of fictional businesses in town.

“Truckers hauling goods from Poplar Bluff will be able to find jobs in six companies. In the city, you will find a warehouse, sawmill, metalwork and construction site that all need your help with delivering supplies. And if you don’t feel like going to the city center, you will surely find a job at the timber harvest site or furniture factory in the suburbs,” the release stated.

The Missouri DLC will also include major cities like St. Louis and Jefferson City.

“Missouri offers a diverse and exciting trucking experience,” the developers affirmed.

The DLC is available for pre-order with the release date still unannounced.
