Larry McGee, an 82-year-old Navy veteran and retired AT&T employee from Sunset Hills, Missouri, passed away on March 1, 2025. Known for his love of genealogy and the outdoors, he leaves behind a loving family.

Larry Robertson McGee of Sunset Hills, Missouri, was born Sept. 10, 1942 in Mississippi County, Arkansas, to William Travis and Alice Estelle (nee Robertson) McGee and entered into rest Saturday, March 1, 2025 in Sunset Hills, Missouri, at the age of 82 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Travis and Alice Estelle (nee Robertson) McGee; daughter, Tonja E. McGee; sister, Wanda (late Fred) Talcott.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie (nee Mueller) McGee; daughter, Christine (Bryan) McEvoy; grandchildren, Sydney McEvoy and Harper McEvoy; sister, Darleen (late Jerry) Lampley; along with numerous other extended family and friends.

Larry was a proud veteran who honorably served his country in the United States Navy. His dedication to hard work continued throughout his career, as he retired after many years of service with Southwestern Bell/AT&T. Larry had a deep appreciation for history, which was evident in his passion for genealogy. He spent countless hours researching his family’s roots, often collaborating with a group in High Ridge to uncover and preserve his heritage.

Beyond his work and research, Larry found joy in the great outdoors. He loved traveling with his family, visiting national parks, and making lasting memories on their adventures. His happy place was at the Lake of the Ozarks, where he enjoyed taking his boat out on the water. At home, he took pride in his yard, spending time outside tending to his lawn and garden. Larry’s love for exploration, history, and nature made him a remarkable man whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Chapel Hill Mortuary, Kirkwood, 10301 Big Bend Road. Kirkwood, Missouri 63122. A private inurnment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill, Missouri.
