Alan Gregory Nagy, 55, of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, after a brief illness on Thursday March 6, 2025. He was previously a long-time resident of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Greg was born April 14, 1969, in Columbia, Missouri to Dr. Al L. and Evelyn (Leverich) Nagy. He graduated from Poplar Bluff Senior High in 1987 where he excelled in football and received a scholarship to play for the University of Missouri at Rolla. He served his country as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve for several years. He obtained his AA degree in nursing from Three Rivers College and BSN from Southeast Missouri State University. He cared for many patients in the area at various facilities including John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. He also worked for a time in pharmaceutical sales. He was a former member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his daughter, Peyton (Sam) Nagy; sons, Parker and Carson Nagy; brothers, Steve (Heather) and Alex (Renee) Nagy and Rick Pedego; nephews, Hunt (Kaylee) and Nathan Nagy; nieces, Mykael (Lazlo) Korpash and Abby Nagy; and cousin, Lori Kaye (Barry) Seal. He is also survived by his former wife Julie (Joe) Coleman and her family members including Larry (Kaye), Greg (Lisa), Pat and Carrie Carda.
The family invites friends to share fond memories of Greg at his visitation service from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Fowler Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral will also be held there at 9:30 a.m. Thursday March 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a graveside service to follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri at 11 a.m.
