A Poplar Bluff man, Donald Eugene Gordan, 39, has been arrested on charges of first-degree arson, child endangerment, and property damage after a house fire on Henderson.

A Poplar Bluff man is in Butler County jail facing charges of first degree arson, two counts of child endangerment and property damage.

Donald Eugene Gordan, 39, of the 900 block of Henderson was arrested Friday after Poplar Bluff firefighters were called to a fire on the same block at 10 a.m.

According to Battalion Chief Jeff Hale’s report the day of the fire, “On arrival, we found fire on the exterior wall on back of the house. Firefighter Dustin Graves advanced an attack line to the rear of the structure and extinguished the fire. Crews searched the inside of the structure for fire but found nothing.”

Hale requested the Missouri State Fire Marshal investigate the scene. Gordan was taken into custody and transported by a Poplar Bluff police officer. A city officer later transported took Gordan to the Butler County jail.

Other firefighters on the scene were Justin Moyers, Tyler Daggett, Tyler Gutterman, Travis Taylor and Jamie Watson. Poplar Bluff police officers also were on the scene.
