The Kiwanis Club's annual Pancakes Day breakfast is a major fundraising event and supports projects and maintenance year-round at Kiwanis Bacon Park. The breakfast runs 6 am.-noon on Saturday at PBJH.

Kiwanis Pancakes Day will kick off at 6 a.m. Saturday and continue until noon at the Poplar Bluff Junior High cafeteria, Business Highway 67 North.

Tickets are available for purchase at the Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation office, but if you cannot make it by the parks and recreation office, tickets may be purchased at the cafeteria door the day of the event.

The tickets cost $7 each and include all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage and drinks. Diners can eat in or drop by to purchase an order to go.

Pancake Day Chairman Jim Sanchez said, “We have been serving pancakes for over 80 years. This is a major fundraiser to help us reach our goals. All the proceeds will benefit Kiwanis Bacon Park.”

“We own and pay the maintenance on the park,” Sanchez said, “We are working on new backboards for the basketball goals at the park. We do good things for the youth of Poplar Bluff.”

The park is located between the 1300 block of West Pershing and Harper Street behind the Poplar Bluff Middle School.

While Kiwanis Bacon Memorial Park has many features, one of newest is the all-inclusive playground which has several pieces of equipment. The first phase of the all-inclusive playground was installed in August 2017.

Other features include a walking trail, basketball court, softball field and Frisbee golf course. A large field area is used for football and soccer practices.

There are four large and four small individual pavilions for use. To make reservations for the large pavilions call 573-785-3338. The smaller individual pavilions do not have to be reserved.
