The city of Poplar Bluff has been awarded $1.9 million to enhance the transportation infrastructure within its industrial park.
This funding, part of a larger $6 million investment across the Delta region, is made possible through a partnership between the Delta Regional Authority and the U.S. Economic Development Administration.
The improvements will focus on Butzen Avenue and Rowe Parkway.
The DRA highlighted the significance of this investment, stating in a press release, "The city of Poplar Bluff was awarded $1.9 million to make improvements to the transportation infrastructure within the Poplar Bluff Industrial Park, ensuring safer and reliable roadways for employees and freight trucks accessing the five manufacturing companies within the park, while also attracting news businesses to the park."
The funding is part of the Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance program, which aims to bolster economic development, workforce development, and business development opportunities in the Delta region.
Dr. Corey Wiggins, DRA Federal Co-Chairman, emphasized the importance of the ongoing partnership with the EDA, stating, "The Delta Regional Authority’s ongoing partnership with the EDA allows us to work together to create opportunities that will impact communities across our Delta region. As a result of this partnership, a significant investment has been made toward projects that aim to bolster economic development, workforce development and business development opportunities in four communities within our DRA footprint."
This investment marks a significant step forward for Poplar Bluff, which has been actively seeking funds to improve its infrastructure, according to officials.
