Poplar Bluff man arrested for kidnapping

A Poplar Bluff man was arrested yesterday on assault and kidnapping charges.

Officers responded to the 600 block of Cleveland Street in reference to an assault. They made contact at the scene with the reporting party, who stated she’d been assaulted and held against her will. Police arrested Johnathan Civili, 30, of Poplar Bluff on charges of kidnapping, third-degree assault and harassment.

Civili was transported to the Butler County jail and charges were sent to the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office. As of Friday afternoon, Civili had not yet been charged with any crimes by the Butler County prosecutor.
