PIEDMONT — The Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Waste Management Program has issued a construction permit to Henson Trash Service Inc. to construct the Henson Transfer Station – Piedmont in Wayne County.
The facility will be used as a municipal solid waste transfer station, processing non-hazardous solid waste from the tipping floor to long-haul transfer trailers for disposal in a solid waste landfill, according to a press release from DNR. The site is to be located at 7 Sugar Creek Road, 0.13 mile west of Highway 49 near Piedmont in Wayne County.
The Department of Natural Resources reviews all applications submitted by cities, counties and private owners to ensure solid waste processing facilities are properly designed and constructed. Other technical factors that protect Missouri’s environment are also examined.
The department must issue an operating permit to the facility before it can accept any waste.
