Janice Lynn Mullen was born at Kennett, Missouri, March 19, 1964 and died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024

She was raised on the farm near Gideon, Missouri. Her parents were S.E. “Jack” Mullen and Sylvia Lee Singleton Mullen who both preceded her in death

Jan is survived by her sister Charlotte Mullen of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, whom she lived with for the last 11 years; nephews, David Dixon (Sondra) and Matthew Dixon; brother, Sam Mullen (Carol Jean); niece, Sherry Felker (Kevin) and many cousins, two grandnieces, one grandnephew and seven great-grandnieces; close family friend, Martha Elsworth; and family and caregivers, Lucia Calvin and Gloria Porter.

She was preceded in death by her nephew, Scott Mullen.

Jan went to Headstart and Kindergarten at Gideon Elementary School and the remainder of her school career was spent at the School for the Handicapped at Peach Orchard, Missouri.

Jan was baptized at the Gideon First Baptist Church at a young age where she was a member and later became a member of the Westwood Baptist Church at Poplar Bluff.

She loved to swim and enjoyed family floating on Current and Black Rivers. She did water aerobics, Zumba and other exercise classes with friends. She loved to ride motorcycles with her Dad, brother and nephew David. She loved to travel and flew to Hilton Head, South Carolina and a lot of sightseeing. She went on a long road trip with her sister and friend Karen all the way to Galveston and South Padre Island, Texas. She flew to New York where she attended four Broadway musicals. Jan had a very a complete life and made loving friends wherever she went.

Family suggests memorials be made to the Special Olympics or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at First Baptist Church of Gideon followed at noon by the funeral at the church. Burial will be in the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton, Missouri.
