Dorothy Whitener

Dorothy Marie Whitener, 85, passed away with her family by her side Oct. 17, 2024, at her home in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Dorothy was born March 21, 1939, to Everett and Floye Willard in Taskee, Missouri. She married Ray Whitener Aug. 4, 1962.

Dorothy was loved by many and made lifelong friends with her quilting family. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, reading her Bible every day, and loved taking care of her husband, Ray.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ray; their son, Richard Whitener; two sisters, Genevea Kisner, and Linda Lombardo; one sister-in-law, Sharon Ballew; two nieces, Sharon Kinser, and Teresa Chernov; two nephews, Jimmy Kisner and John Willard; special friends, Sheri, Elaine, and Paula; and many dear friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Funeral Services will follow at 1 p.m. and burial will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Amanda Ewing officiating.
