The 35th Annual Haven House Trail Ride was a resounding success, said Amber Tinker. the shelter’s executive director.
“Our riders were able to raise an impressive $21,000 to support the organization’s mission to serve victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking,” Tinker said.
These funds will help cover operating expenses and serve as a match for grants, further strengthening Haven House’s efforts to provide critical outreach and services to those in need.
The event’s winners were determined by the amount of money each participant raised. Carolyn Cravens took first place, followed by Susan Lawson in second place, and Stacy Allen placed third.
The trail ride was held at the farm of Larry and Robyn Hillis north of Poplar Bluff.
“Haven House extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the riders, sponsors, and supporters who made this year’s trail ride a success,” Tinker said. “Their generosity and commitment exemplify the community’s dedication to helping survivors and ensuring Haven House can continue its essential work.”
Tinker continued, “First and foremost, we are going to meet their basic needs including shelter, food, clothing, hygiene items, etc.. Services include safety planning, crisis intervention, life skills, education opportunities, advocacy, connecting victims to community resources, assisting applying for housing, Medicaid, SNAP, employment, court advocacy (both civil and criminal), hospital advocacy, assistance applying for legal aid, immigration services, ex partes and full orders of protection, outreach services, individual counseling, group therapy, and the list goes on.”
