WAYNE COUNTY — A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition following a shooting in Wayne County on Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 1:10 p.m., the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an assault involving firearms in the area of County Road 524 and 509, near Lowndes. Dispatch informed officers that one individual had been shot three times in the chest. He was transported by AirEvac to an undisclosed hospital. Dispatch also said another possible victim was believed to be with the suspect.
Eric “Quinn” Moore, 21, of Lowndes was identified as the suspected shooter. Officers searched for Moore throughout the evening and eventually located him as well as the second victim, a woman, who was deceased. Moore was reportedly driving a 1999 white Ford dually.
Moore is now in custody and faces two counts of felony first-degree assault; armed criminal action; and kidnapping, facilitating a felony.
Wayne County Sheriff Dean Finch stated that Moore will likely be facing additional charges, which are pending at this time.
The male victim remained hospitalized in critical condition as of press time Thursday.
