Officers conducted a security check Friday, Sept. 27, at a building located in the 1900 block of South Broadway Street due to recent trespassing issues on that property. Officers located a subject on the property, who was determined to have an outstanding warrant for their arrest. Paul Hubbard, 27, of Poplar Bluff was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant.

Officers conducted a traffic stop Friday, Sept. 27, on a vehicle near the intersection of North D Street and North Riverview Drive and during this stop, it was determined that the operator of the vehicle had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. Emily Jones, 25, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant.

Officers conducted a traffic stop Friday, Sept. 27, on a vehicle near the intersection of South 5th Street and Poplar Street and during the course of this stop, it was determined that the necessary requirements for the vehicle to be operated on the roadways in Missouri were not met, and the vehicle was towed away.

Officers responded Friday, Sept. 27, to a business in the 3000 block of Oakgrove Road in reference to stealing. It was determined that two subjects had entered the business, selected merchandise that was for sale, and then left the business without attempting to pay for the merchandise. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Friday, Sept. 27, to a business in the 3000 block of Oakgrove Road in reference to stealing. It was determined that two subjects had entered the business, selected merchandise that was for sale and left the final point of sale where they were apprehended by staff, who recovered the merchandise. The subjects were interviewed on scene, by officers, and both misidentified themselves to avoid prosecution. Both subjects were identified, and taken into custody. Gary McCain, 18, of Fairdealing, and Raleigh Ponder, 18, of Doniphan were both arrested for stealing. Charges are being sought through the Poplar Bluff Municipal Prosecutor’s Office and the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office, respectively.

Officers responded Friday, Sept. 27, to the 900 block of Ash Street in reference to a motor vehicle accident, where one party had left the scene. It was determined that a parked motor vehicle was struck by another vehicle, which then left the scene. An accident report was completed, and this investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Friday, Sept. 27, to a business in the 1400 block of N. Westwood Boulevard in reference to a motor vehicle accident, where one party was actively leaving the scene. Officers located, and apprehended the fleeing party, and it was determined that the fleeing party had fled the scene due to lack of vehicle insurance. An accident report was completed, and Samantha Elsworth, 44, of Fisk was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident. Charges are being sought through the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers responded Friday, Sept. 27, to a residence in the 1700 block of Spring Street in reference to shots fired and a possible burglary in progress. It was determined that two subjects had broken a window at a nearby residence, and shots were subsequently fired. A suspect was identified. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Friday, Sept. 27, to a residence in the 800 block of North Riverview Drive in reference to a member of the public requesting assistance. It was determined that a resident had been locked inside of a room by two juveniles that also lived in the residence. After this matter was resolved, it was determined that the legal guardian of the two juveniles had abandoned them at the residence, and was not attempting to provide for them. A suspect was identified and charges are being sought through the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office. The juveniles were left in the care of a family member who was able to provide for them.

Officers responded Friday, Sept. 27, to an apartment in the 400 block of Nth Main Street in reference to a verbal dispute. It was determined that an assault had occurred. Kristen Goodwin, 37, of Poplar Bluff was arrested for Assault 4th Degree and charges are being sought through the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers responded Friday, Sept. 27, to the 1600 block of Wilson Street in reference to a runaway juvenile. It was determined that a juvenile was taken along for a visit to prevent the juvenile from running away, due to the juvenile having recently run away, and then ran away regardless. The juvenile was located and returned to custody of legal guardian. This case is closed.

Officers responded Friday, Sept. 27, to a residence in the 900 block of Nickey Street in reference to harassment. It was determined that someone had damaged the property there, and following this event, someone had contacted the reporting party by phone to inquire about the damage. A suspect was identified and charges are being sought through the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.
