Officers responded Tuesday, Oct. 1, to a residence in the 800 block of Cole Avenue in reference to harassment. It was determined that an individual was deliberately harassing another individual. Officers responded Tuesday, Oct. 1, to a residence in the 800 block of Cole Avenue in reference to harassment. It was determined that an individual was deliberately harassing another individual. A suspect was identified and charges are being sought through the Poplar Bluff Municipal Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers responded Tuesday, Oct. 1, to a residence in the 200 block of East Midland Street in reference to an assault. It was determined that a domestic assault had occurred, and that the aggressor had left the scene prior to officer arrival. A suspect was identified, and charges are being sought through the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.

A subject came to the Poplar Bluff Police Department Tuesday, Oct. 1, to file a criminal complaint. It was determined that someone had made applications, using the subject’s identity, in a different state. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Tuesday, Oct. 1, to a business in the 700 block of Highway 53, in reference to a suicidal and/or homicidal individual. It was determined that an individual was having a mental health crisis, was acting aggressive and was deemed a danger to himself or others. The subject was taken into protective custody and was transported to the PBRMC for treatment.

The Poplar Bluff Police Department was notified Tuesday, Oct. 1, of a possible crime that occurred within the jurisdiction of the City of Poplar Bluff, that went previously unreported. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Tuesday, Oct. 1, to a business in the 3300 block of South Westwood Boulevard in reference to lost or stolen property. It was determined that a subject was missing property that had been in their wallet, and that they had left personal property inside of someone else’s vehicle. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Tuesday, Oct. 1, to a business in the 300 block of South Westwood Boulevard in reference to lost or stolen property. It was determined that a person had misplaced property inside the business. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Tuesday, Oct. 1, to a business in the 300 block of South Westwood Boulevard in reference to stealing. It was determined that a juvenile had left the store with selected merchandise, which belonged to the business, that they had not paid for. The juvenile was apprehended, and the merchandise was returned to the business. This case has been turned over to the Butler County Juvenile office.

Officers conducted a traffic stop Tuesday, Oct. 1, near the intersection of South Westwood Boulevard and Butler Street. During the course of this stop, it was determined that the operator had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. Shanyla Hardin, 18, of Poplar Bluff was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant.

Officers responded Tuesday, Oct. 1, to a business in the 2100 block of North Westwood Boulevard in reference to property damage. It was determined that there had been damage, which did not appear accidental, to a motor vehicle that was parked outside of the business. This investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded Tuesday, Oct. 1, to a business in the 700 block of East Pine Street in reference to an unattended juvenile. It was determined that a juvenile, of an age that requires constant adult supervision, had arrived at the store unattended, and had then exited the store and was later picked up by an adult, that walked the juvenile to a nearby residence.

Officers located the juvenile and the juvenile’s parents, and conducted an investigation, which revealed that there was a history of similar incidents. It was determined that the juvenile had wandered off during outdoor activities with their parents. Officers then responded back to the same business, in reference to the same juvenile, who had, again, returned to the business, unattended.

At this time, the juvenile was returned to the residence where their parents lived, and it was determined that the juvenile had left the residence without the parents being aware. Jamie Hardesty, 33, of Poplar Bluff, and Jesse Schaeding, 35, of Poplar Bluff, were both arrested for Abuse or Neglect of a Child. Charges are being sought through the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.

The juveniles in the residence were left in the care of a family member, at the discretion of Social Services
