Jesse Merriman, 96, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at Rivermist Assisted Living.
Jesse was born March 28, 1928, in Wappapello, Missouri, to Henry Merriman and Delise (Chandler) Merriman. He married Irene Greenwall Feb.10, 1951 in Piggott, Arkansas.
He was a life-long resident of Butler and Wayne County. He was a member of Palace of Praise Church of Poplar Bluff. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his younger days he enjoyed riding horses. Jesse loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Jesse is survived by his son, Gene (Jackie) Merriman; daughter, Elaine Cox; two grandchildren, John-Marc (Shawn) Merriman and Jessica (Jeremy) Barger; and four great-grandchildren, Tinsley, Chloe, Juliet, and Jett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Delise Merriman; two brothers, Dallas Henry Merriman, and James Fredrick Merriman. A host of family and friends also survive.
The family has asked for memorials to be made in Jesse’s name to a Veteran’s group of your choice.
Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024 at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Kent Miller and Rev. Rick White officiating. Interment will follow funeral service at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Williamsville, Missouri. Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
