Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center has welcomed Tony Torres as its new chief operating officer, effective Sept. 9.
Torres joins PBRMC with years of operation experience, most recently serving as the market assistant chief executive officer for the AllianceHealth Durant and Madill hospitals in Southeastern Oklahoma, according to a press release.
Previously, Torres served as an assistant administrator at Longview Regional Medical Center in Longview, Texas. He has helped hospitals advance service line initiatives, enhance safe, quality care and expand access to care. His expertise includes managing vital ancillary support services, including laboratory and radiology and he has a proven track record in physician engagement and recruitment, officials said.
A native of Idaho, PBRMC said Torres understands the unique challenges in providing health care to rural and underserved communities.
“Growing up in an area with limited access to specialty care has given me a passion for ensuring that communities like Poplar Bluff receive high-quality, accessible health care,” said Torres. “I look forward to working alongside the talented team at PBRMC to further this mission.”
Torres holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University Idaho and a dual master’s degree in health care and business administration from Idaho State University.
