Charles Patterson

Charles A. Patterson went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Charles was born in Corning, Arkansas, Nov. 27, 1932. He was the son of Arvil and Viva (Miller) Patterson, both of whom preceded him in death. Charles married Betty Hartsfield Aug. 30, 2015. She survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Debbie (Doug) Adams of Fisk, Missouri; three sons, Ron (Wanda) Patterson of Corning, Steve (Stephanie) Patterson of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Gerald (Michelle) Hartsfield of Rector, Arkansas; one brother, Joe (Karla) Patterson of Madison, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Barbara Patterson; nine grandchildren, Sherri (Jason) Hester, Shelli Adams, Christina (Bill) Swint, Angela (Shane) Duncan, Matthew Patterson, Joshua Patterson, Hannah (Tyler) Mathys, Dillon Hartsfield, and Kaylee Hartsfield; 12 great-grandchildren; plus many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Charles was also preceded in death by his best friend and mother of his children, Peggy (Blaylock) Patterson; two sisters, Deanna Patterson and Nettie (Patterson) and her husband J.D. “Red” Taylor; one brother, George Patterson; and one brother-in-law, Billy Blaylock and his wife, Patsy.

Charles was a devoted man of God, serving as a deacon for many years. He retired from Poplar Bluff School District after having both taught and served as a principal in both Arkansas and Missouri for many years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2024 in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Steve Patterson and Bart Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Richwoods Cemetery in Corning.

Public visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Richwoods Cemetery Fund c/o Larry Wiedeman 561 CR 131, Corning, AR 72422
