American Legion Post 153 will host an event in advance of Patriot Day, with guest speaker Cindy Owens. Owens was CEO of the American Red Cross in New York City on 9/11. This event begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Legion.

Glory Days will host a poker run with the first bikes leaving at noon. This event will raise funds and supplies for FosterAdopt Connect.

The evening offers Battle of the Bulls at Ray Clinton Park, starting at 7 p.m.

This year’s Battle of the Bulls features five-times PRCA Clown of the Year and Wrangler National Finals Rodeo Barrelman, Radical Ryan Rodriguez, according to organizers. It also offers bounce houses and a petting zoo, as well as food trucks. The main action will be bull riding and barrel racing.

Sunday brings two more family-friendly events, both free. Altrusa will host story time at Poplar Bluff Library at 1:30 p.m. Each child who attends will receive a free book.

Rodgers Theatre will show “The Egg and I” from 2-4 p.m. as part of Silver Screen Sundays.

Books will be given away. There will also be outdoor games, crafts and more.

— Ben Kruse Charity Crappie Tournament, 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 7 WHERE Sundowner Marina WHAT Seven best fish will determine winner.

— Altrusa fundraiser car show, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 7 WHERE 508 Bartlett St. WHAT Proceeds help Altrusa buy books for children.

— Patriot Day 9/11 event, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Sept. 7 WHERE American Legion Post 153, 2320 Kanell Blvd. COST $10 WHAT The Marine Corps League Staff Sgt. Eric Summers Detachment 1473 will host this event with guest speaker Cindy Owens, who was CEO of the American Red Cross in New York City on 9/11. The event includes a lunch of barbecue pork.

— Glory Days Poker Run, 11 a.m. Sept. 7 WHERE Glory Days Bar & Grill, 4806 West Blvd. COST $10 and a package of diapers, socks or underwear WHAT This event will benefit FosterAdopt Connect. For more information, call 573-714-4709. Registration is from 11 a.m.-noon.

— Battle of the Bulls, 7 p.m. Sept. 7 WHERE Ray Clinton Park COST $15 for adults, $10 for children WHAT This event is hosted by the Three Rivers College rodeo team and ag department. It includes bull riding and barrel racing.
