BROSELEY — The Twin Rivers School Board approved the tax levy at the regular meeting Thursday, Aug. 29.
The tax levy was approved at $2.9985 per $100 of assessed valuation, which is increased slightly from $2.9965 a year ago.
“This is a regular thing that has to be done every year,” Twin Rivers Superintendent Rob Brown explained. “It determines the funding from the state on the aggregate property tax assessment.”
In other news, the school board approved a bid from R&R paving, to pave the student drop off lane at the Fisk K-8 campus. R&R was the solo bid for the job at $13,600.
“The area to be paved goes around the south side of the building. It’s the student drop off lane,” Brown explained. “By doing this, we will be able to eliminate pot holes and smooth things out.”
Brown went on to explain the fact the current topography catches a lot of water when it rains.
“By paving this, we’ll also eliminate any issues with standing water,” Brown noted. “This will just be a good way to keep students out of puddles and keep any water from potentially getting into the building. It will just make things better.”
Earlier in August, R&R Paving sealed the parking lot at the same campus.
Also in the meeting, the school board approved raising the athletic director stipend from 11% to 15%.
The next meeting date was set for Tuesday, Sept. 17.
