Police have uncovered more information about a Monday afternoon shooting in the South Side area of Poplar Bluff.
Yesterday, little was know except that an individual sustained a single non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg. Police reported he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
A new press release from police shed a little more light on the matter Wednesday morning. The shooting victim was identified as Michael Hart Jr., 23, of Poplar Bluff.
The report said Hart was “uncooperative and indicated to Investigators he would not assist with prosecution” of the shooting. Police later discovered Hart had a handgun he disposed of before police arrived to the scene, and this firearm was recovered by officers.
The press release went on to say, “It appears the shooting may have been accidental and self-inflicted.”
