Visitors to the Mo-Ark Regional Railroad Museum have the opportunity to win three prizes during the Iron Horse Festival on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Donations of $5 per ticket or $10 for 3 tickets will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday through Sept. 28 at the museum.
Prizes include an Amtrak train trip valued up to $204, a $100 Walmart gift card and a used model train set. Tickets may be obtained for one, two or three prizes. Winners will be notified after the drawing at 4 p.m. Sept. 28.
The train trip winner can choose between going to Dallas, Texas; Springfield, Illinois; or St. Louis. Tickets must be purchased three or more months prior to travel.
Funds are needed to maintain and improve the museum located in the historic 1928 Frisco Depot across Fifth Street from the Black River Coliseum.
Museum volunteers also are preparing for the arrival of Union Pacific’s Big Boy 4014 steam engine on Thursday, Sept. 12. Big Boy T-shirts have been ordered and will be sold at the museum which will be open from 4-7 p.m. Sept. 12 and 8-10 a.m. Sept. 13.
The steam engine is scheduled to leave Ironton at 2 p.m. Arrival time in Poplar Bluff will be announced later. It will depart Poplar Bluff at 9 a.m. Sept. 13.
