Vera Danner
Vera Lee Danner, 97, of Rogersville, Missouri, passed away Aug. 17, 2024 at The Maples Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, Missouri.
Vera was born to Homer and Hazel (James) Webber Nov. 9, 1926 in Corning, Arkansas. Vera graduated from Brazzle Public School in 1941. She then attended Southeast Missouri State, and later went on to get her Bachelor’s degree at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1964.
While she met her husband, Joe Danner, while in public school, it would be several years down the road before they became a couple. After writing letters to each other through out his time in the Army, they would finally unite in marriage May 29, 1948. They spent 75 years together, until Joe’s passing.
She was the first librarian at Naylor School in Naylor, Missouri and later was the assistant librarian at Poplar Bluff High School. Vera retired in 1991 after 33 years as an educator. It was after retirement that she moved to the Springfield area. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and staying in close contact with her family. She was diligent about sending cards or calling family on birthdays and anniversary. Vera was a Christian and a member of Sunset Church of Christ since 2004.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 75 years Joe, brother Paul, sisters, Eva Wright and Glenna Patterson.
She is survived by two daughters, Paula Christian and her husband, Barney, of Rogersville and Jo Shrable of Ava. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Kerre Clark and her husband, Tanner, of Ava and grandson, Wil Shrable and wife, Sarah, of Rogersville along with seven great-grandchildren, Flint, Mattie, Tenley, Nora, Dalley, Jack, and Adeline, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with interment following at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation wil be from 10 -11 a.m. prior to the service.
