Out of a crowded field of five candidates, Ralph Stucker emerged as the Republican nominee for the Butler County Eastern District Commissioner spot. He won with a total of 1,044 votes out of 3,069 total votes cast. Results are unofficial until they are certified Friday.

Andy Clark received 899, Dan St. Lawrence won 492, Wes Gilmore earned 349, and Rowdy Boyer garnered 285.

“I’m very honored and humbled,” Stucker remarked.

He stated the other candidates ran a good race, and he looks forward to the general election.

“I don’t want to look past November,” Stucker cautioned.

Stucker hopes to get the robust backing of the community when he squares off against Democrat nominee Van L. Rhodes. Rhodes ran in an uncontested primary and received 372 votes.

Stucker met stiff competition from second-place Clark who carried the Broseley, Fisk, Qulin/Oglesville/Fagus, Sale Barn and Wappapello precincts.

Kinyon, Lake Road/Rombauer, and Oak Grove were competitive between the two candidates, but Stucker ultimately won out.

He thanked his friends and family for their continued support and everyone who offered advice.

Lastly, Stucker thanked the community. “I’m glad everyone got out and voted. That’s not a right we should take for granted,” he noted.
