The opportunity to have some fun while supporting rescue animals, wounded veterans or youth ministries are available this weekend.

Hearts for Rescue will hold its Christmas in July from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, providing pictures with Santa and more. This group of volunteers fosters dogs awaiting permanent homes, providing veterinary care and more during that time. The event will be held at 2787 Tucker Road.

The Junior Order of the Eagles will offer a car show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Eagles on S. Broadway, with proceeds to benefit the Wounded Warriors program.

And Sunday offers a kids carnival and more at Grace Christian Fellowship Church starting at 11:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit Ignite Student Ministries.

Live music will be available Friday and Saturday across the region.

WHAT The Butler County Health Department invites community members to a free dinner and focus group where citizens can join the discussion of community health needs. — Kristen Dagget performs, 8-11 p.m. July 19 WHERE The Marked WHAT Kristen Dagget will perform during Friday Night Jams.

— Trey Clevenger live, 8 p.m. July 19 WHERE Jake’s Loch Loma Lounge WHAT Clevenger will perform a variety of genres of music.

— Hearts for Rescue Christmas in July, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. July 20 WHERE 2787 Tucker Road WHAT Santa will be available for photos with pets and people, along with a Christmas tree and bake sale. Gifts will be available for a donation to the Hearts for Rescue group, which helps dogs find homes.

— Wounded Warriors car wash fundraiser, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. July 20 WHERE Country Pickins’ Flea Market WHAT A basket raffle and car show will help raise money for Wounded Warriors. Organized by the Junior Order of Eagles.

— Hickory Smoke performs, 5 p.m.-midnight July 20 WHERE The Camp COST $5 WHAT Hickory Smoke will perform at The Camp, 183 University Forest Drive, Wappapello.

— Kids carnival, 11:30 a.m. July 21 WHERE Grace Christian Fellowship Church WHAT This is a fundraiser for Ignite Student Ministries. Donations will be accepted for a lunch of pulled pork or hot dogs. A cornhole tournament will be held, $20 per team. Entrance to a kids carnival is $5.

— Community Baby Shower, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. July 22. WHERE Holiday Inn Grand Ballroom. COST Free, but please RSVP. WHAT Missouri Highlands Health Care is excited to invite all expectant parents to our Community Baby Shower. The event is first-come, first-serve and attendees will receive baby supplies, including diaper bags and car seats, as long as the supply lasts. RSVP at mohigh.org/event/community-baby-shower/.

— Twilight Movie Marathon, 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. July 24 and 1-3:30 p.m. July 12. WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library, Ridgel Branch. COST Free. WHAT A movie marathon of all five Twilight films over two days. Come for all the movies or just your favorite. Popcorn and water will be provided. Open to grades 7-12. Movies rated PG-13.

— Opry at the Rodgers, 7 p.m. July 27 (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) WHERE The Rodgers Theatre COST $10 per ticket. WHAT The Moonpie Band will headlines this annual country concert.

— Elvis tribute night, 6 p.m. July 27 WHERE Haffy’s Sports Bar & Grill WHAT An Elvis performer will bring the King back to life, according to organizers, with multiple outfit changes and covering hits from the 1950s-1970s.
