Officers responded Monday, July 8, to the front desk of the Poplar Bluff Police Department about a burglary. The victim stated his house was broken into and he has video footage of the suspect. This investigation will continue.

Officers were dispatched Monday, July 8, to the 1300 block of Mill Street in reference to trespassing. The homeowner advised someone had been in their house and left the front door unlocked when they left. There are no suspects at this time.

Officers were dispatched Monday, July 8, to Super 8 Motel in reference to trespassing. Employees advised the female needed to leave the property and she was refusing. The female was identified as Tawania Hicks and she was made to leave the property.

Officers were dispatched Monday, July 8, to Revere Plastic in reference to a theft. Closer inspection revealed someone had stolen all the copper from the air conditioner units.

Contact was made Monday, July 8, with a victim in reference to stolen trailer plates. There are no suspects at this time.

Kendrick Brown, 23, of Poplar Bluff was arrested Monday, July 8, in the 700 Block of Lester Street on probation violation warrant with no bond. Brown was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Officers were dispatched Monday, July 8, to the 800 block of North Main Street in reference to property damage. The victim advised someone damaged the roof of his vehicle.

James Gooch, 47, of Poplar Bluff was arrested Monday, July 8, at the Probation and Parole office on a Ripley County warrant for non-support, $20,000 cash-only. Gooch was booked and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Officers made contact with a victim Monday, July 8, at the front desk of the police station who advised her house was burglarized in June. The victim advised tools and new Toilets were stolen.

Officers were dispatched Monday, July 8, to the 900 block of Lester Street in reference to stealing. The victim stated an unknown person stole $112 from his wallet while he was out of the room.

Officers made contact with a victim Monday, July 8, in the 900 block of North Street in reference to someone breaking her window out of her side door. There is no suspect at this time.

Officers were dispatched Monday, July 8, to Commerce Bank in reference to fraud. Officers made contact with a female trying to cash a check that was obvious the name had been changed. Contact with the owner of the check was made and the check had been altered but the victim did not want to pursue charges.

Contact was made with a victim Monday, July 8, at the front desk of the police station about someone keying her car. This investigation is still ongoing.

Officers were dispatched Monday, July 8, to Dollar General on East Pine in reference to subjects “shooting up” in a grey truck. Officers arrived and found Tiffany Glover and Matthew Maxell inside the vehicle. Maxwell was allegedly actively using drugs when officers approached the vehicle. Both Maxwell and Glover were arrested and charges were sent to the prosecutor’s office.

Officers were dispatched Monday, July 8, to an assault on West Midland Street. After officers arrived it was determined the assault was due to a juvenile trying to steal a go-cart out of a yard and the homeowner caught him and stopped him. Charges were sent to the juvenile office.

Officers attempted Monday, July 8, to stop a motorcycle on Midland for speeding. The motorcycle accelerated and failed to stop. Officers pursued the bike until the pursuit was terminated at highways 142 and 158. The operator was identified and charges were sent to the prosecutor’s office.
