Officers were dispatched Thursday, June 20, to Rhodes Convenience Store in reference to a subject flourishing a weapon. Contact was made with a subject that was released from the hospital. The subject advised he was picking a penny up when an employee exited the business, retrieved a pistol and chambered a round into it. ...

Officers were dispatched Thursday, June 20, to Rhodes Convenience Store in reference to a subject flourishing a weapon. Contact was made with a subject that was released from the hospital. The subject advised he was picking a penny up when an employee exited the business, retrieved a pistol and chambered a round into it. The weapon was never pointed at anyone. Contact was then made with the employee. The employee stated the subject was asked to leave the property. The subject appeared to be looking in the window of the employee’s vehicle, so the employee drew the pistol and chambered a round. Nobody wished to pursue charges at this time.

Steve Smith, 50, Poplar Bluff was taken into custody Thursday, June 20, during a traffic stop. Smith was processed and lodged in the Butler County jail on an active warrant through the city of Poplar Bluff and Stoddard County.

Taylor Flores, 29, Poplar Bluff was taken into custody Thursday, June 20, during a traffic stop due to a active warrant through the city of Poplar Bluff. Flores was processed and released on bond.

Officers were dispatched Thursday, June 20, to 908 Mulberry in reference to property damage. The suspect cracked the front windshield to a car. The suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

Contact was made Thursday, June 20, with a subject a the front desk of the station in reference to stealing. The victim stated a garden tiller was stolen from the location it was last left. There are no suspects at this time.

Contact was made Thursday, June 20, with Commerce Bank employees due to a leaving the scene accident. It was stated a white male used the ATM and when he left, he struck the ATM with his truck. The suspect has not been identified at this time.

Officers were dispatched Thursday, June 20, to the Wash Park in reference to a leaving the scene accident. Employees stated a white female backed into a floor mat washing machine. The female exited the vehicle, looked at the damage, then left the scene. The vehicle has been identified as well as a possible suspect.

Officers were dispatched Thursday, June 20, to the 1900 block of North Fifth Street in reference to a medical assist. It was reported the resident made suicidal threats. A relative arrived and allowed officers inside. Contact was then made with the victim, who was unresponsive at the time. Emergency medical personnel transported the subject to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Contact was made Thursday, June 20, with a subject at the front desk in reference to identity theft. The victim stated someone opened up a credit card in their name. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers were dispatched Thursday, June 20, to Probation and Parole in reference to Rose Varner, 37, of Poplar Bluff having a detainer warrant for her arrest. Varner was processed and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Officers were dispatched Thursday, June 20, to the 600 block of Kinzer Street in reference to subjects yelling and possibly having a weapon. Contact was made with two juveniles. They stated their mother was inside the residence causing issues. Officers spoke with the mother and it appeared she was under the influence of narcotics. The juveniles were allowed to stay else where and a report was made to the Child Abuse Hotline.

Contact was made Thursday, June 20, with Jaylin Johnson, 22, Poplar Bluff during a traffic stop. Johnson allegedly lied about her name twice to officers. After discovering the correct identity, Johnson was taken into custody due to warrants through the city of Poplar Bluff and the city of Kennett. A probable cause affidavit was sent to the prosecuting attorney seeking charges for resisting arrest as well.

A report was made Thursday, June 20, about a female that was possibly missing. The female was last seen on the SMTS bus, which she frequently rode. The reporting party advised she was last seen in April but they knew of a subject that had her dog and other possessions. The investigation is ongoing.
