Multiple ongoing projects highlight Poplar Bluff’s growth.

Multiple ongoing projects highlight Poplar Bluff’s growth. Murphy’s gas station on South Westwood in front of Walmart is set to be torn down and completely rebuilt, according to Poplar Bluff Building Inspector Tony Chilton.

Murphy’s started the permitting process last December. Chilton said the new building will be a pre-fabricated concrete structure.

There is no estimated date of completion.

Further up Westwood, Firehouse Subs is moving in next to Pizza Inn. The national chain, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida specializes in sub sandwiches and has 1,210 locations in the United States and abroad.

“They are getting pretty close,” Chilton commented the restaurant will likely be completed and inspected soon.

On Shelby Road, work has officially begun on the new commercial building at the 2400 lot. Chilton said he inspected the concrete footers and more progress will be made soon. The building will host medical offices, a wholesaler, and a financial advisory office.
