Peggy E. Batten, 93, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 7, 2024, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Peggy E. Batten, 93, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 7, 2024, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Peggy was born on March 26, 1931, to Frank and Hattie (Crigger) Walker in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She married Bobby Lee Batten on Oct. 6, 1953; he preceded her on Aug. 1, 1988. She later married Bob Armour, who also preceded her.

Peggy attended First United Methodist in Poplar Bluff and was a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class for 63 years. She and her husband owned and operated Bob Batten Equipment & Construction Company Inc. for many years. Peggy was an involved member of the community, participating in the Poplar Bluff Porcelain Artists, Order of the Eastern Star, and Chamber of Commerce. Peggy was known as a “professional shopper,” it was one of her favorite pastimes. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan; the family would like to encourage everyone to wear their Cardinals clothing to the services in her honor. Peggy loved antiques, bird watching, and playing cards. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and loved ones, especially her grandchildren.

Peggy is survived by two daughters, Susan (Terry) McVey and Laura (Tony) Zadnick; five grandchildren, Mike (Tiffany) Williams, Amy (Chris) St. John, John Williams, Katy (Wesley) Bowles, and Jodi (Hunter) Hoffman; six great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Daniel Williams, Chandler and Thatcher Beaton, Cooper and Natalie St. John; special niece and nephew, Judy Tilmon and Charles Dinwiddie; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Bob Batten and Bob Armour; two sisters, Lucille Dinwiddie and Beryle Holtzhouser; five siblings in infancy, including her twin sister Patsy.

Visitation will be held on from 11 a.m.-noon Monday June 10, 2024, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at noon with Pastor Steven Scherer. Burial will take place Naylor Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Bob Batten.

In lieu of flowers of memorial donations can be made to the American Red Cross or the Fairdealing Cemetery.
