Several Cedargate Healthcare long-term employees were honored during National Skilled Nursing Care Week, May 12-18.

Several Cedargate Healthcare long-term employees were honored during National Skilled Nursing Care Week, May 12-18.

Administer Sherrie Small praised the workers not only for their longevity with the company, but for being “very exceptional, especially since they worked during COVID.

“We have a wonderful staff who is very caring and you can tell with the number of years they have put in with their dedication,” Small said. “Two very special ladies will receive awards today for years of compassionate service and devotion to our residents at Cedargate Nursing Home.”

Topping the list was Gloria Daugherty, who has worked at the skilled nursing facility for 40 years in activities as well as housekeeping.

Next was Joy Hicks, who has spent 25 years as a certified nursing assistant, certified medication technician and a restorative nursing assistant at Cedargate.

RNAs assist the patient in performing tasks that restore or maintain physical function as directed by the established care plan, Small explained.

“We are so proud (of) Miss Joy,” Small said. “Thank you both so much. We have several others awarded for their years of service as well. We appreciate all of our team members.”

Others honored were Lisa Walker, who has been with the Cedargate for 22 years working in housekeeping.

Marina McMinn has served as a CNA for 19 years.

Velma Puckett was recognized for working in human resources for 18 years.

Cedargate Healthcare, located at 2350 Kanell Blvd. in Poplar Bluff, offers multiples levels of care, depending on the individual’s needs. These include assisted living, skilled nursing care, and an Alzheimer’s program.
