Officers were dispatched Wednesday, May 15, to the area of Save-A-Lot in reference to a leaving the scene accident. The vehicle was located with no occupants. A driver was possibly identified. The vehicle struck a utility pole and a sign. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Officers were dispatched Wednesday, May 15, to Casey’s on Highway 53 in reference to a female overdosing. Upon emergency medical services arriving, the operator of the vehicle the female was in fled from the scene. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, the vehicle continued to flee. The vehicle eventually crashed and became disabled. The driver, Lee Abraham II, was taken in to custody. The female was unresponsive and EMS transported her to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Abraham was processed and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Officers were dispatched Wednesday, May 15, to Integrated Therapy in reference to stealing. The victim stated both license plates were stolen from their truck. The plates were entered by dispatch as stolen.

Officers made contact Wednesday, May 15, with a subject at the front desk in reference to forgery and stealing. They advised a check was issued to a business for $16.50, however, the check was intercepted at some point and changed to $4,416.50. Officers were able to verify the check was mobile deposited and obtained a possible suspect name. Chase Bank would not provide any further information without a search warrant.

A subject came to the front desk Wednesday, May 15, in reference to identity theft. The victim stated someone was attempting to take his tax return by providing a fake Missouri ID and a routing number that was not to his account. The investigation is ongoing.

Joseph Smith, 34, Poplar Bluff was taken into custody Wednesday, May 15, in reference to an active warrant for his arrest through the city of Poplar Bluff. Smith was processed and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Officers were dispatched Wednesday, May 15, to Save-A-Lot in reference to shoplifting. The employees stated on Friday and Saturday, a female came into the store and stole several items. The items taken on Friday were Gain detergent, seasoning, and ground beef. On Saturday, she took another Gain detergent and placed it in her purse and left. The total stolen was $9.66. Video footage was obtained and the investigation is ongoing.

Both were advised of the Missouri state law pertaining to domestic situations. Neither party wished to pursue charges.

Kevin Tarpley, 61, Poplar Bluff was taken into custody Wednesday, May 15, at Probation and Parole due to him bringing in a vape pen that tested positive for narcotics. Tarpley was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Daniel Derway, 43, Poplar Bluff was taken into custody Wednesday, May 15, during a traffic stop for an active warrant through Butler County. During the booking process, Derway threatened the officer and his family. Derway was aggressive and agitated. Derway was also aggressive toward jail staff. Derway was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Officers were dispatched Wednesday, May 15, to the 1500 block of Alice Street in reference to a juvenile being kicked out of a residence. Contact was made with the juvenile and they refused to get in the patrol vehicle. Contact was made with the guardian and they stated the juvenile was not supposed to leave the residence, however, they did and were going to another family member’s house.
