Lois Lyvonne Gunn went home to be with her Heavenly Father May 12, 2024, attaining the earthly age of 83.

Lois was born June 1, 1940 to the late Rev. Harvey Lee “Harve” Darnell and Mattie Mae Darnell in Stringtown, Missouri. She was a familiar face in the hardware department at the Poplar Bluff Walmart for many years until her retirement. On May 27, 1999, she married her true soulmate, Herschel Gunn, he survives.

After retirement she and Herschel enjoyed many adventures traveling throughout the United States and into Canada. She spent many hours sitting on her porch admiring her flowers and watching the deer that frequented her yard. Throughout her life Lois had a true love for God and loved reading the Bible. She attended Agee Fellowship Church until her significant decline in health.

Lois is survived by two sons, Jimmy Brannum (Lorna) of Williamsville, Missouri, and Johnny Brannum (Lee Ann) of Gulfport, Mississippi. Lois is also survived by two stepdaughters, that she felt were her own: Cheryl Buttry (Alan) of Poplar Bluff and Kim Gunn-Gernstetter (Barry) of Freeport, Florida; eight grandchildren that brought her great joy and that she loved dearly: Billy Brannum, Ryan Brannum (Katie), Joey Clark, Michelle Massey (Joseph), Robert Clark, Amy Stanton (Mike), Jessica Hanson (Bill) and Katie Hickman (Bryan); and many great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four siblings: Willie Darnell, Ted Darnell, George Darnell and Betty Dillinger. Lois was preceded in death by her stepson, Gene Gunn; a sister, Virginia Darnell Tibbs and a brother, Robert (Bob) Darnell.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Rev. Larry Moses Tipton officiating.
