__POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT__
Poplar Bluff firefighters responded at 4:53 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, to a grass fire at 2426 Garrett St. and Grand Avenue.
According to firefighter Tyler Daggett’s report, upon arrival Battalion Chief Jeff Hale advised a large grass fire had extended into the woods in the rear of the property. When the second station arrived on the scene, Hale, firefighter Tyler Gutterman and Jamie Watson grabbed rakes and a blower and began to establish a fire line. Daggett and firefighter Tanner Tibbs grabbed a blower and shovel to help.
Once the fire line was contained, Watson utilized the booster reel to extinguish the hot spots.
Firefighters used 150 gallons of water to extinguish the hot spots and were at the scene until 5:40 p.m. The property belongs to Richard Medley of the Garrett street address.
