Carrie Stewart, 39, of Poplar Bluff was arrested Feb. 6 during a traffic stop for possession of controlled substance. During the stop it was discovered Stewart was faking a medical issue. A search of Stewart’s belongings revealed the controlled substance.

A burglary was reported on Feb. 6 in the 2700 block of Holly Trails. This investigation is ongoing.

Employees of U.S. Bank, 2024 N. Westwood Blvd., reported on Feb. 6 a subject attempted to cash a check from an inactive account. The account belonged to a person that was deceased. The subject attempting to cash the check has been identified and charges were sent to the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.

Ricky Nelson, 38, of Poplar Bluff was arrested Feb. 6 on charges of domestic assault fourth degree. Nelson was processed and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Officers were dispatched on Feb. 6 to the 400 block of Vine Street in reference to an abandoned vehicle. A records check revealed the vehicle was reported stolen through the Sikeston Police Department. The vehicle was then seized.

Employees of Auto Zone, 355 N. Westwood Blvd., reported a shoplifting on Feb. 6. Multiple subjects was located inside the store working together. When approached, the subjects emptied the property taken and fled the store.

Employees of First Midwest Bank reported on Feb. 6 that a subject cashed multiple forged checks. The suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

Officers were dispatched on Feb. 6 to the 600 block of Cherry Street in reference to a theft. The victim reported money missing. All parties involved were located and spoke with.

Corey Bertram, 47, of Poplar Bluff was arrested Feb. 6 on active warrants through the City of Poplar Bluff and Arkansas Probation and Parole. Contact was made with Bertram during a traffic stop. Once the warrants were confirmed, Bertram was processed and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 6 to the 1900 block of Iowa Avenue in reference to a domestic dispute. Officers spoke with both parties the Missouri law pertaining to domestic disputes was explained.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 6 to the 1800 block of Maud Street in reference to a possible assault. While on scene, both parties were contacted and the incident investigated.

Clayton Swafford, 23, of Poplar Bluff was arrested Feb. 6 during a traffic stop on a Stoddard County warrant. Swafford was processed and lodged in the Butler County jail. He also received citations for the original traffic stop.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 6 to the 1000 block of Tremont Street in reference to an assault. Contact was made with the victim, who reported a neighbor punched him. The neighbor was identified, however, contact could not be made. A summons for assault was mailed to the suspect.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 6 to the Advanced Pain Clinic in reference to a burglary. A broken window was located and a search of the building revealed no suspects inside. This investigation is ongoing.

Jace Duggar, 20, of Poplar Bluff was arrested Feb. 6 during a traffic stop on a Poplar Bluff municipal warrant. Duggar was processed and released on bond.

Officers responded on Feb. 7 to the Poplar Bluff Middle School, 1300 Victory Lane, in reference to an assault. All persons involved were contacted. The report was sent to the Butler County Justice Center for review.

NCMEC operates a web-based reporting system that facilitates the reporting of internet-related crimes against children. Once a report is received, the report is forwarded to the local authorities where the incident occurred. The persons involved have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

A subject reported on Feb. 7 the spare key to their vehicle as lost or stolen. A wallet was also missing.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 7 to Southern Bank, 531 Vine St., in reference to a subject pulling on doors at closing time and wearing a ski mask. Contact was made with the subject and was identified. The subject advised he was trying to cash a check and wore the mask all the time, even inside the bank. Officers encourage the subject not to wear the mask due to it making workers feel uncomfortable.

Officers responded Feb. 7 to the 2000 block of Missouri Avenue in reference to a threat assessment. A juvenile threatened to shoot another juvenile over a dispute. After speaking with the subjects involved, it was ruled to be said out of anger. All subjects involved stated they did not want to harm anyone.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 7 to the 400 block of North G Street in reference to a fight. It was discovered the two subjects were juveniles. A report will be sent to the Butler County Juvenile Office for review.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 7 to the 1300 block of Lela Street in reference to illegal dumping. The reporting party stated a male threw multiple bags of trash in the woods near the reporting party’s residence.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 7 to the 300 block of South Eighth Street in reference to a domestic dispute. Contact was made with one person from the incident. The other left prior to police arrival.

Officers assisted the Children’s Division on Feb. 7 in the 1100 block of Spring Street in reference to the wellbeing of a child. Children’s Division employees stated the mother would not allow DFS to check on the child and living conditions. Several attempts were made to locate the mother and child at different addresses but were unsuccessful. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 7 to the AMTRAK station, 400 S. Main St., in reference to harassment. The reporting party stated they have been having issues with an ex-significant other, who had been sending messages the reporting party felt were threatening.

Officers responded at 10:38 p.m. Feb. 7 to the 1500 block of Woodland Road to locate a missing juvenile. The juvenile was located; however, the guardian would not travel from Sikeston to retrieve the juvenile. Plans were made for the juvenile to stay with a mutual friend until the guardian found time to get them.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 7 to the Thrifty Nickel Flea Market, 505 Sycamore St., in reference to a panic alarm. When arriving an employee stated the suspect came behind the counter and stole some cigarettes. No type of ID was given prior to the theft.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 7 to 10Box, 1301 Shelby Road, in reference to a shoplifting. Employees stated a subject took items from the business without paying for them. Images of the suspect were obtained and investigation is ongoing.

Officers contacted a subject at the front desk on Feb. 7 in reference to found property. The subject found a wallet and turned it in at the station. Attempts were made to contact the owner with no success. The wallet was placed into evidence at the police department.

Stormy Mullins reported at 8:15 a.m. Feb. 8 that property damage and a theft had occurred in the 900 block of Lester Street. Mullins advised the suspect stole the battery from her car along with tools, toys and clothing. She also said the suspect damaged the dashboard in her car during the incident.

An employee of the Poplar Bluff Junior High School, 550 N. Westwood Blvd. reported at 8:57 a.m. Feb. 8 that a student had marijuana in his possession. The marijuana was seized and destroyed. The matter was referred to the Juvenile Office.

An employee of the Walmart Supercenter, 333 S. Westwood Blvd., reported at 10:17 a.m. Feb. 8 that a subject was trespassing at the store. The suspect was issued a summons and released at the scene.

John Sumrall reported at 11:31 a.m. Feb. 8 his trailer was stolen from a worksite off of Barron Road.

Spencer Carda, 28, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 3:27 p.m. Feb. 8 during a traffic stop on Neat Street. Carda was booked on a parole violation (no bond) and lodged in the Butler County Jail.

It was reported at 5:13 p.m. Feb. 8 that a student assaulted another student when they got off the school bus. The incident has been referred to the juvenile office.

The police department received information at 6:25 p.m. Feb. 8 that a convicted sex offender moved to Poplar Bluff and had not registered as a sex offender. This case is under investigation.

An employee of Rent 2 Go made a report at 6:38 p.m. Feb. 8 for stealing leased or rented property.

Robert Marshall, 36, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 8:38 p.m. Feb. 8 after fleeing on foot during a traffic stop on Sixth Street. Marshall was booked on a Butler County warrant for dangerous drugs (bond $35,000) and a Probation and Parole warrant for a parole violation (no bond). Marshall was also booked on the charge of resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Marquis Johnson, 21, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 10:07 p.m. Feb. 8 during a traffic stop on Davis Street. Johnson was booked on a Reynolds County warrant for failure to appear on a traffic violation (bond $250) and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Jeremy Hurst, 32, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 3 a.m. Feb. 9 on South Broadway Street after fleeing from officers on a bicycle. Hurst was booked on a Butler County warrant for possession of a controlled substance (bond $10,000) and a Poplar Bluff warrant for failure to appear on a traffic offense (bond $500). Hurst was also booked on the charges of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Nicole Fields reported at 7:18 a.m. Feb. 9 that her car was damaged while it was parked in the 1800 block of Arkansas Avenue.

Samantha Christian reported Feb. 9 that her daughter was shoved while at the bus stop in the 300 block North G Street. The case is under investigation.

Officers responded at 10:12 a.m. Feb. 9 to a medical assist at Kid’s Corral. EMS responded and transported the subject to the hospital.

Lillian Canania, 20, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 10:50 a.m. Feb. 9 during a traffic stop on Midland Street. Canania was booked on Poplar Bluff warrants for failure to appear on peace disturbance and a traffic offense (bond $1,000). Canania was also booked on the charges of possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Robert Pinkston reported at 3:00 p.m. Feb. 9 there was a theft at a residence in the 300 block of Euclid Avenue. Pinkston advised the suspect was dismantling the AC unit when he arrived but then fled from the scene.

Officers responded at 3:10 p.m. Feb. 9 to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1500 block of Vincent Street.

Gregory Thomas reported at 7:50 p.m. Feb. 9 a theft that occurred in the 1000 block of Tremont Street. The case is under investigation.

Maranda Windsor, 28, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 9:14 p.m. Feb. 9 in the 1500 block of North Main Street. Windsor was booked on Poplar Bluff Municipal warrants for traffic offenses (bond $1,500) and released on bond.

Timothy Owen reported at 9:43 p.m. Feb. 9 a trespassing incident occurred in the 800 block of North D Street.

Devon Dennis, 35, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 12:04 a.m. Feb. 10 at a residence in the 600 block of Selma Street. Dennis was booked on Butler County warrants for dangerous drugs and a traffic offense (bond $35,500). He was also booked on Poplar Bluff Municipal warrants for traffic offenses and drug paraphernalia (bond $750) and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Officers responded at 4:02 p.m. Feb. 10 to a drug overdose in the 900 block of Mulberry Street. The subject was transported to the hospital by EMS.

Officers responded at 6:31 p.m. Feb. 10 to a drug overdose in the 300 block of North G Street. The subject was transported to the hospital by EMS.

John Johns, 62, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 6:42 p.m. Feb. 10 during an assault investigation in the 1400 block of North 12th Street. Johns reportedly approached the victim in the victim’s driveway, told the victim he had a knife and then lunged toward him. The victim and Johns went to the ground and he was able to keep Johns on the ground until officers arrived. Johns also bit the victim in the left arm during the struggle, which resulted in EMS attending to his injuries.

The victim informed officers he had never seen Johns before and he was unsure why he was at his residence. A knife was later located at the scene and seized for evidence. Johns was booked on the charge of assault third degree and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Officers responded 8:01 p.m. Feb. 10 to the 600 block of Pine Street in reference to a domestic assault. The victim advised he had been assaulted at his residence which was located at a different address. Charges have been requested.

Officers received a report at 11:36 p.m. Feb. 10 that Danielle Olson’s car was damaged while it was parked in the 1000 block of Fairmount Street.

Walter Painter reported at 4:52 a.m. Feb. 11 his vehicle was damaged while it was parked at Mike’s Resale located at 1015 White Row. Painter advised the suspect slashed four tires on his vehicle and damaged the front bumper. Officers were dispatched to the scene and the reporting party advised he could get security footage, and that he had just purchased the tires from a possible suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 11 to the 2000 block of Greenwood Drive in reference to an unattended death. Upon arrival the subject was not responsive. The scene was turned over to detectives and the Butler County coroner.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 11 to the Fairfield Inn, 3109 Oak Grove Road, in reference to a medical assist. Officers made contact with a subject that Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center just released. The subject stated he advised staff he had mental health issues, however, they released him anyway. The subject was transported back to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center to get a mental evaluation complete.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 11 to the 1200 block of Velma Street in reference to an assault. Upon arriving contact was made with the reporting party. It was stated a juvenile was fighting with them and took off running prior to law enforcement arrival. They were later contacted and taken to other family members. The reporting party did not want to pursue charges.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 11 to the 1500 block of Grand Avenue in reference to a burglary. The reporting party stated electrical wiring and a hot water heater were stolen from the residence.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 11 to the 400 block of Karen Drive in reference to a domestic dispute. Both parties were contacted and advised of Missouri’s domestic dispute law. Neither party wished to pursue charges.

Officers were dispatched Feb. 11 to the area of Walmart Supercenter, 333 S. Westwood Blvd., in reference to a subject running into traffic. Once contact was made with the subject it was evident he was under the influence of narcotics. He was transported to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.
