Cathy McManus
Cathy McManus, was born Cathy Dee Rhodes May 26, 1952. She has a twin brother Gary Lee Rhodes. They were God’s gift to their parents Charles Edgar Rhodes and Bette Jane Rhodes.
On Jan. 1, 2024, Cathy Rhodes McManus went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus.
Cathy always loved school. Later that led her to become a teacher, at PB Senior High school. She taught home economics for 31 years. She always was very involved in sports, at a young age and in high school. Later as a teacher, students would ask her questions such as... we have a boys’ tennis team, why don’t we have a girls’ team? She always answered... I don’t know, but I will find out. That is how she became the PB Girls Tennis coach for 21 years. She also started the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) for girls.
Cathy was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher for the ladies class, young married class and loved working in the church library.
Cathy loved to take notes from her Pastor, Steve Patterson. She loved to journal, thanking and praising God for all He had done for her. She loved traveling with her husband, Raymond. Their trips to Yellowstone were some of their favorites. She loved reading and journaling. She loved animals, both in the wild and their pets.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Charles Edgar Rhodes; mother, Bette Jane Rhodes (Scott); special friends, Alpha Lou Legrand, Betty Buck and Vickie McCann, both of Poplar Bluff.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Raymond McManus of Poplar Bluff; her twin brother, Gary Rhodes of South Carolina; two nieces: Heidi Rhodes and Chelsea Rhodes of New York City; one nephew, Chris Rhodes of Wyoming; special friends, Marty Porter of Herculaneum, Missouri, Betty Buck and Patty Davis Ice, both of Poplar Bluff.
There will be a memorial visitation at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024 at Temple Baptist Church, 1813 Barron Road, Poplar Bluff. The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Patterson officiating.
