Poplar Bluff firefighters responded at 3:31 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, to a carbon monoxide incident at 611 W. Victor St. They used a gas meter and no abnormal levels were found. The gas company was asked to respond.

Firefighters responded at 4:23 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, to a non injury motor vehicle accident at 2929 N. Westwood Blvd. Five firefighters along with the Poplar Bluff Police Department and Butler County EMS responded.
They stated on scene until the wrecker arrived.

Firefighters responded at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, to a carbon monoxide incident at 2025 Glendale Road.
According to Lt. Travis Taylor’s report, the alarm was making a high pitched whine, but the gas meter did not show anything abnormal. Firefighters removed the batteries and replaced them with fresh batteries. The alarm quit sounding and the occupant was advised to consider buying a new alarm since the unit was about at the maximum on it’s lifetime usage.

At 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, firefighters were called to assist police at 1207 Highway 53 by providing lighting while officers searched for evidence.

Firefighters responded at 5:24 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, to a carbon monoxide detector activation at 2619 Sherry Lane. When Spire Gas arrived and thoroughly checked the house, including the water heater and the HVAC system, but found nothing. According to the fire report by Capt. Justin Moyers, the resident was told nothing was found and the detector should be replaced.

Firefighters responded to a medical assistance call at 6:46 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at 2049 Greenwood Drive. A woman met the crew at the door to explain she had hit the button on her medical alert necklace by accident and she was fine. When EMS arrived, the firefighters explained it was a false alarm.

Firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries at 12:07 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 1880 N. Westwood Blvd. According to Capt. Brad Jones’ report, the injuries were minor. The cars were removed from the roadway.

Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at 902 Henderson Ave.
According to the report, firefighters found nothing and contacted the occupant, who stated they did not call. The police department was requested and officers are continuing an investigation in the false alarm calls at the address.

Firefighters responded at 8:49 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, to a fire in the woods at 521 Henderson Ave., adjoining the property where they had fought a fire earlier in the day, said a report by Battalion Chief Kevin Edgar. The five firefighters found a small fire burning in the wooded lot and used 15 gallons of water and a booster line to extinguish the fire. They determined it was caused by a smoldering spot that had rekindled from the fire earlier in the day.

According to Capt. Steve Burkhead’s report, firefighters were dispatched at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, to 905 Ash St., to an unauthorized burn. They found a small leaf fire that had been extinguished before they arrived.

According to Capt. Chad Bell’s report, firefighters were dispatched at 9:26 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on Roxie Road. The six crew members arrived on the scene along with Butler County EMS, Butler County Sheriff’s Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Poplar Bluff Police Department. One fire crew assisted the EMS preparing the patient for transfer.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec.10, nine firefighters respond to a reported structure fire in the 900 block of Fairmount Street. Upon arrival, the firefighters found a barrel of trash burning at 1001 Fairmont. They canceled the other two crews, extinguished the fire and made contact with the occupant to explained the burn ordinance and the mandatory trash pickup.
