• Forgery charges against O.L. Munger were dismissed late today by Judge John Scheik — and attorney A.O. Daniel, who accused Munger of forgery, was arrested for making a false affidavit. In a related matter, Grover C. Stephens, another attorney, is being sought by Wayne County authorities on charges he embezzled $8,000 from the estate of James P. Bearden, a soldier he is the guardian of.

• The operetta, “The Toy Shop,” featuring a cast of 135 students at Williamson-Kennedy Elementary, will be presented the night of Dec. 18. The play is being directed by Miss Frances Smith, supervisor of music in the public schools and assisted by Miss Elizabeth Morrison, who will act as accompanist.

__Dec. 13, 1948__

• Christopher C. Crites, 49, a member of a prominent Wayne County family who had been active in Republican politics in the county, was killed at 11:59 a.m. yesterday (Dec. 12) in a tractor accident at his farm near Greenville. According to coroner Tris Marshall, Crites was doing terrace work with the tractor and placed his foot on the drawbar. His clothing became caught in the power takeoff, Crites said, and Crites was wound into the machinery, killing him.

• Work on Pine Boulevard was expected to be stopped today as the result of a controversy between carpenters and concrete finishers on the job, according to state highway department officials. An official with the Porter-DeWitt company said the controversy centers over jurisdiction between the carpenters and cement finishers, and is not between the contractor and any unions involved.

__Dec. 13, 1973__

• Clinton D. Summers, who has served as Butler County prosecuting attorney since 1970, confirmed today he had submitted a letter of resignation to Missouri Gov. Kit Bond, effective Jan. 1, 1974. Summers said today he is resigning to devote full time to the private practice of law.

• The boys regional and state basketball tournaments for Missouri high school basketball will be administered under a four-class plan this season. Class A schools are schools with 250 students or less, while Class AA features schools with 251-500 students, Class AAA schools are between 501 and 1,200 students and Class AAAA schools are 1,201 and up. Poplar Bluff will participate in the Class AAAA regional in Cape Girardeau, while Neelyville and Twin Rivers are in the Class AA regional at Richland High School in Essex.
