Pamela Blackwood reported at 10:57 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, her red 2016 Kia Soul was stolen from her residence in the 800 block of Foley Street. The stolen vehicle was later seen on the parking lot at Save-A-Lot at 451 Highway 53. When officers approached the vehicle, the vehicle left the lot, and the officers pursued it through the south end of Poplar Bluff until it broke through a gate on Bedoll Street. After striking the gate, the occupants abandoned the vehicle and escaped on foot.

An employee at Family Counseling Center at 686 Lester St. reported at 7 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, a silver 2018 Kia Soul was stolen from their lot. The vehicle was equipped with a video camera which transmitted footage of suspects inside the vehicle. Three juvenile males were identified and detained, and they were released to the custody of the Juvenile Office.

Officers responded at 10:32 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, to a domestic assault complaint at a residence in the 200 block of East Midland Street. An adult male reported his ex-girlfriend struck him in the head with something, causing him to fall into the bathtub where he struck his head again. The suspect gave a similar account of the incident. The victim refused medical treatment and refused to press charges, and he left the residence to avoid further violence.

A cell phone found in the 900 block of North Main Street was turned in to the police department at 3:44 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7.

Steven Swindle, 50, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at a residence in the 1100 block of Mary Street. Swindle was booked on a Butler County warrant for failure to appear on stealing and held at the Butler County jail.

Neil Grunig reported at 4:47 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, a white female stole his electric bicycle while he worked at Colton’s Steakhouse at 2114 N. Westwood Blvd. Grunig and co-workers caught up with her on the Bluff Square parking lot and recovered the bicycle. The suspect left the scene before the police were called.

Officers accompanied a Missouri Children’s Division caseworker at 4:52 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, to a residence in the 2500 block of Clearmont Street to investigate a report of child abuse. Their investigation determined no abuse had occurred.

Paul Herbst, 36, of Qulin was booked at the police department at 6:44 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, on Poplar Bluff municipal warrants for failure to appear on traffic offenses. He was released on bond.
