One of Poplar Bluff’s newest businesses is open in a very familiar spot in Downtown.

The Yellow Rose Boutique opened Nov. 24, the day after Thanksgiving, at 211 S. Fifth St., at the northwest corner of Fifth and Cedar streets. The building previously was home to Bluff Barber Shop for more than 50 years.

Yellow Rose owner Lauren Eakins said she was inspired to open the business because of her lifelong passion for clothes.

“The right outfit can completely change the way a person feels about themselves,” Eakins said. “It can make them feel comfortable and boost self-confidence. I hope I can help others feel this same way.”

Eakins named the boutique in honor of her late grandmother, whose favorite flower was a yellow rose.

Before opening on Fifth Street, Eakins ran the Yellow Rose as a Facebook-based business for a little over a year. She added she would “like to offer fashionable choices at prices everyone can afford.”

Eakins likes the location of the Yellow Rose for many reasons.

“This storefront is in the perfect area because it allows me to play my part in continuing the beautification and growth of Downtown,” she said.

The Yellow Rose carries a variety of clothing options, including cardigans, dresses, sweaters, sweatshirts, t-shirts, leggings, jeans, bodysuits and shackets. Eakins added she plans to add even more choices in the future.

As for the future of the Yellow Rose...

“I would love to continue the growth of my business page on Facebook,” Eakins said. “We are going to be attending many events this coming year. And I would absolutely love to see everyone stop by the store.”
