Paul Oesterreicher was sworn in Friday as Butler County prosecuting attorney.
Oesterreicher was appointed by the new presiding judge of the 36th Judicial Circuit, Kacey Proctor. Proctor resigned as prosecutor to become presiding judge (see accompanying story.)
Oesterreicher impact cannot be understated, Proctor said Friday morning, after Oesterreicher and Proctor were each sworn into their new roles.
“It’s incredible how consistent and hardworking you are,” Proctor said. “I’m not sure I have ever met a person who works harder than you do in trying to keep this community safe.”
Oesterreicher has helped him every step of the way, said Proctor.
Oesterreicher has lived or worked in the Butler County area for over 30 years and has worked in the prosecuting attorney’s office for over 30 years as assistant prosecuting attorney to several elected prosecutors.
Oesterreicher has chosen this path because he believes Butler County is a good place to live and work, according to information released by the prosecutor’s office.
He stated he will strive to do his best to see that the community is safe, and that victims’ voices will be heard. He has worked with law enforcement for many years and wants to continue that relationship, he said.
Oesterreicher is married to Linda Oesterreicher (formerly French), has raised 10 children and has seven grandchildren.
Proctor was also sworn in Friday, replacing outgoing presiding judge Mike Pritchett, who retired.
