Two people were seriously injured in a pair of weekend accidents in the area, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

The first accident occurred at 11:38 a.m. Friday on Highway 49, three miles east of Williamsville.

According to the MSHP, Howard E. Reed, 72, of Ellington was operating a 2006 Ford pickup eastbound when it ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

Reed was transported by Air Evac to St. Louis University Hospital.

The second accident occurred at 2:15 p.m. Saturday on Highway Y, six miles east of Bloomfield.

According to the MSHP, a 16-year-old male from Dexter was operating a 2005 GMC Sierra westbound when it ran off the road and struck a culvert.

The boy was taken by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
