The body of a 57-year-old white male from St. Louis was discovered around 3 p.m. Wednesday by state employees, Sheriff Mark Dobbs has reported.

The body was found off of Butler County Road 507, on Missouri Department of Conservation property by MDC employees, he said. No foul play is suspected.

Butler County coroner Jim Akers stated the cause of death was exposure.

"He was camping for a couple of weeks and was unprepared for the cold front," Akers said.

The subject appeared to have passed within the last 2-3 days, he added. National Weather Service data showed low temperatures in Butler County dipped below freezing Oct. 30 and have since remained in the low 30s and upper 20s.

The deceased was from the St. Louis area, Akers said, but at the family's request no information about his identity has been released.
