Anthony Tarvin, 50, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 8:21 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, in the 600 block of Cherry Street. Tarvin was booked on a Poplar Bluff municipal warrant for failure to appear on stealing. Tarvin was unable to post bond but was released on his own recognizance.

A Poplar Bluff school bus driver reported at 9:46 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, a red Ford Escape failed to stop for a school bus stop arm. The incident was captured on video and the investigation continues.

Neal Gale, 52, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 9:56 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, during a traffic stop on Mill Street. Gale was booked on a Butler County warrant for possession of amphetamine and Poplar Bluff municipal warrants for failure to appear on traffic offenses. He was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Brian Harris, 37, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the Probation and Parole Community Supervision Center at 1441 Black River Industrial Park Road. Harris was booked on a Probation and Parole warrant for parole violation and lodged in the Butler County jail.

An employee at Poplar Bluff Middle School reported at 11:33 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, a student made veiled threats of mass violence to other students. The suspect was released to a guardian and the matter was referred to the juvenile office.

Officers responded at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, to the parking lot at Taco Bell at 450 Highway 53 for a drug overdose. EMS administered several doses of Narcan with no effect, and the victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Rebecca Schmidt, 35, of Poplar Bluff was detained at 8:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at Walmart Supercenter at 333 S. Westwood Blvd. after she left the store without paying for merchandise hidden in her purse. Schmidt was issued a criminal summons for stealing and released.

Zachary Dennis, 24, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 9:14 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, during a traffic stop on Shelby Road. Dennis was booked on a Butler County warrant for assault and lodged in the Butler County jail.

A blue Pontiac sport utility vehicle was impounded and towed from a traffic stop at 11:42 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, on North Westwood Boulevard after it was determined the vehicle was not registered and was not insured. The driver was released at the scene with traffic citations.

David Burgess, 51, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 11:16 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at his residence in the 700 block of North Riverview. Burgess was booked on a Poplar Bluff municipal warrant for failure to appear on a code violation and released on bond.

An employee at Bluff Town Mercantile and Coffee House reported at 12:04 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, juvenile males stole a tip jar from the counter and fled the scene in a red Ford Ranger pickup. The suspect vehicle was stopped by an officer and the juvenile suspects were arrested and taken to the police department and were released to guardians.

An employee at Bomgaars at 2235 N. Westwood Blvd. reported at 12:19 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, a white male stole plants from the store and left in a dark colored Buick passenger vehicle. The theft was captured on video and the suspect was mailed a criminal summons for stealing.

An employee at Menard’s at 3105 Oak Grove Road reported at 12:34 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, a white female concealed two cameras in her purse and left the store without paying for them. The white female left the store in a white Chevrolet passenger vehicle. The theft was captured on surveillance video.

Wheatley was booked on a Wayne County warrant for failure to appear on a traffic violation and a Butler County warrant for failure to appear on stealing. She was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Austin Barker reported at 11:01 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, a co-worker approached him from behind and struck him several times with a closed fist while they worked at McDonald’s at 550 Highway 53. Another employee pulled the suspect away from the victim, and the suspect left the scene.

Pine St. Fisher was booked on a Poplar Bluff municipal warrant for failure to appear on shoplifting and a Dexter municipal warrant for failure to appear on shoplifting. He was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Officers responded at 10:54 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, to a residence in the 1800 block of Arkansas Street for a drug overdose. Narcan was administered before officer arrival, and the victim recovered and declined further treatment from EMS.

Jessica Sperling reported at 11:39 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, her boyfriend assaulted her as they returned to her residence on North Sixth Street. When they arrived at the residence, the suspect left in another vehicle. Efforts to locate the suspect failed and the matter was referred to the prosecutor.

An adult female reported at 12:43 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, she received an Instagram message which claimed she won a large sum of money. The person who sent the message asked for a photo of her ID, then instructed her to buy $1,700 worth of prepaid debit cards. The victim realized she was the target of a scam and did not send any money.

Charles Brown, 65, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 1:51 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at his residence in the 2000 block of Wallace Street. Brown was booked on a charge of third-degree domestic assault and was lodged in the Butler County jail.
