An employee at Poplar Bluff High School reported at 8:03 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, a male student struck another male student on the parking lot after school the day before. Mason Turner, 18, of Poplar Bluff was issued a criminal summons for assault.

Julius Douglas, 65, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 2:09 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at his residence in the 300 block of North Fifth Street. Douglas was booked on a Butler County warrant for possession of a controlled substance and lodged in the Butler County jail.

An employee at the Poplar Bluff Public Library reported at 4:24 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, an unsupervised juvenile male urinated on the control panel of the elevator. The matter was referred to the juvenile office.

Officers responded at 6:29 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, to Walmart Supercenter at 333 S. Westwood Blvd. for a report that a shoplifter fled the parking lot on foot. Franky Garcia, 52, of Poplar Bluff was arrested on Vine Street. Garcia was booked on a charge of stealing and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Officers responded at 10:16 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, to a report two adult females were fighting outside a residence the 1600 block of Wilson Street. When officers arrived, they learned one of the participants left the scene. The matter was referred to the prosecutor.

Ryan Carr reported at 10:28 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, he was robbed at gunpoint in the 1600 block of North 13th Street. Carr described the suspect as a Black male he met on a social media app. The suspect took Carr’s wallet, cell phone and vehicle key and fled the scene with a second Black male.

Elliot Sumlin, 34, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 1:56 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, on North Sixth Street. Sumlin was booked on a Butler County warrant for probation violation and lodged in the Butler County jail.
