An Arkansas man who authorities believe may have been walking or camping in Ripley County near the state line was found dead on the side of DD Highway.
According to reports, the deceased, Johnny Walls, 32, of Searcy, Ark., was spotted Sept. 5 by a passerby, who contacted Doniphan Dispatch.
Deputies arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation which also included assistance by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Ripley County Coroner Mike Jackson.
Ripley County Sheriff Mike Barton stated that an autopsy was conducted Sept. 7. He stated, “Foul play is not suspected, but the case is still under investigation.”
No specific cause of death has been determined, although dehydration may have been a contributing factor, stated Sheriff Barton.
