The police department received a message Saturday, Aug. 19, from the National Instant Background System, NICS which reported a firearm transfer at a local store was denied.

Randy Weems, 38, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 12:08 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, during a traffic stop on North Ninth Street. Weems was booked on a Poplar Bluff municipal warrant for failure to appear on no insurance. Weems was unable to post bond but he was released on his own recognizance.

Grashella Casteel reported at 3:51 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, someone tampered with her car while it was parked in the 400 block of North D Street.

Ronald McCauley reported at 9:36 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, he was assaulted outside his residence in the 1500 block of Big Eddy Street. McCauley identified his attackers as a couple living in another apartment on the property. The suspects left before the police were called.

Arlee Hayes, 38, of Poplar Bluff and Tawania Hicks, 44, of Poplar Bluff were arrested at 10:01 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, in the 400 block of Highway 53. Hayes was booked on a Probation and Parole warrant for parole violation and a charge of stealing. Hayes was lodged in the Butler County jail. Hicks was booked on a Poplar Bluff municipal warrant for failure to appear on a traffic offense and a charge of resisting arrest. Hicks was released on criminal summons.

Euna Dennis reported at 5:11 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, an adult male contacted her through Facebook in violation of a protection order.

An employee at Rent 2 Go reported at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, a customer failed to return a rented car.

Patrick Oxley, 34, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 8:11 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at his residence in the 1000 block of Kinzer Street. Oxley was booked on a charge of third-degree domestic assault and lodged in the Butler County jail.

Emily Jones, 24, of Neelyville was arrested at 10:56 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at a residence in the 1200 block of Velma Street. Jones was booked on a Poplar Bluff municipal warrant for failure to appear on a traffic offense and released on her own recognizance.

Officers responded at 12 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, to a residence in the 300 block of Homer Street for a report of a domestic disturbance. The victim reported her adult son came to the residence, threatened her, and left the scene before officers arrived. Efforts to locate the suspect failed and the matter was referred to the Butler County prosecutor.

Bernard Reams reported at 5:39 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, Liberty Lambert, 18, of Naylor stole his car from the parking lot at Heartland Express at 4155 S. Westwood Blvd. The car and a tablet taken from the car were recovered at a residence in the 1200 block of County Road 302. Lambert was arrested at the residence and booked on charges of stealing a motor vehicle and stealing less than $750. She was lodged in the Butler County jail.

Two people sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 9:16 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, on U.S. Highway 67, 10 miles north of Silva.
According to the report, Michael E. Monigan, 29, of Belleville, Illinois, was operating a 2019 Audi Q5 northbound when it traveled off the left side of the road, overcorrected, ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
Monigan and a passenger, Ariel L. Gaston, 27, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, were transported by Wayne County Ambulance to Madison Medical Center in Fredericktown.

Anthony J. Curran, 62, of Dexter was arrested at 9:24 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, in Stoddard County on suspicion of DWI. He was released.

Jereme J. Roark, 46, of Van Buren was arrested at 10:03 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, in Shannon County on a Van Buren Police Department misdemeanor warrant for shoplifting. He was booked at the Carter County jail.
