Fire destroys house on Highway 142

The Missouri State Fire Marshal is investigating a house fire on Highway 142, which Butler County firefighters responded to at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22. According to Butler County Fire Chief Bob Fredwell, he called the fire marshal since no one was at home at the time of fire. The home is owned by Cole Pogue.

Neighbors reported hearing an explosion before seeing the flames. The house and a truck were destroyed.

The county fire department had nine firefighters and five trucks responding to the fire.
